Sir Steve Ojomeko Adehi, SAN, is a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria with over 38 years of extensive legal practice experience. He obtained his LL.B from the University of Jos in 1986, attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos (1986–1987), and was called to the Nigerian Bar on 22nd October 1987.
He is the Principal Partner of Steve Adehi SAN & Co., a law firm he established in 1988, with offices in Kano and Abuja. His legal expertise spans Corporate and Commercial Law, Banking and Financial Transactions, Litigation, and Arbitration. He has represented clients before High Courts, Appellate Courts, and in numerous arbitration proceedings. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), a registered Solicitor with the Nigerian Capital Market, a Notary Public, and a Member of the Body of Benchers.
Sir Steve holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs & Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Master’s Degree in Business & Commercial Law from Bayero University, Kano. He is an active member of both the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Bar Association (IBA), participating in various international conferences and professional development programmes. He is also a member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association.
Within the Nigerian Bar Association, he has held numerous leadership roles, including Chairman of the NBA Kano Disciplinary Committee, Chairman of the Continuing Legal Education Committee (NBA Kano), Secretary of the National Disciplinary Committee (North West Zone), Member of the NBA National Executive Council under successive NBA Presidents, Council Member of the NBA Section on Legal Practice, and Pioneer Chairman of the NBA Employment Bureau (2022–2024). He was among the first recipients of the Bar Presidential Award (2024).
Sir Steve was elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2018. He has served as a Member of the Presidential Legal Team (2019) and the INEC Presidential Legal Team (2023). He has also served as a Neutral for the Kano Multi-Door Courthouse since 2007.
Beyond his legal career, Sir Steve is widely respected for his faith-based and civic leadership. He is a Knight of the Catholic Church and has the rare distinction of being conferred Papal Knighthood by two Popes in recognition of his charitable works, promotion of inter-religious dialogue, peaceful co-existence, and good governance. In 2005, he was conferred the Knighthood of St. Sylvester by Pope Benedict XVI, and in 2022 he was elevated to Knight Commander of St. Pope Sylvester by Pope Francis. He is also a Knight of St. Philip & St. James in Spain (Ballesteros de Hermandad).
He currently serves as National President of the Association of Papal Knights & Medalists in Nigeria and as Supreme Advocate of the Knights of St. Mulumba Nigeria.
